MVMA Presidents Corner
Hello again,
It's hard to believe that fall is winding down and winter will soon be here. What a beautiful October it was. We all know that we will probably pay for it this winter. The Minnesota State Fair again projected our profession in a very positive way. The Surgery Suite as always was a great success. And the Miracle Birth Center continued to be the #1 Fair attraction. This year the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps was at the Fair. They were very pleased with how they were received and the exposure it gave them. All three of these projects involved a tremendous amount of leadership to put together and volunteers to be there for the ten days of the Fair. Thank you all for a job very well done.
Our new fundraiser for the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Foundation was the Shoot for the Future sporting clay event. Wow, what a success! Over a hundred shooters participated and a wonderful time was had by all. Plans are already underway to do it again next year. And I'm sure the number of participants will only grow. We owe a deep debt of gratitude for those who put this together and those who volunteered their time, as well as the many sponsors that we had. Please go to our website to find out who they were and make a point to thank them.
Also, note that our annual meeting will again be at the Minneapolis Hilton, and that this year it will be a week later than usual, February 10-12. What a wonderful time this always is. The winter is a very active time in the Twin Cities. There are many sporting activities both on a professional and college level and other events going on at that time. Give some thought to making it a family weekend and help break up what is usually a long winter. Please also start giving some thought about what you can donate to the Silent Auction at the convention. Hope to see you all there.
