MVMA Presidents Corner
Hello,
Wow! What a spring and early summer. I was honored to give the Veterinarians' Oath at the Graduation of this year's seniors from the College of Veterinary Medicine. What an impressive group of young veterinarians. I can assure you that the future of our profession is in very good hands.
Congratulations to Teresa Hershey for the highly successful Feline Overpopulation Forum held in St. Cloud in collaboration with a number of Humane Societies.
The MVMA's summer seminar in mid-June was attended by 152 veterinarians and technicians and was very well received.
It's hard to believe that July is already here. Summer always seems to go so fast. It won't be long before the State Fair is here. As usual there will be a tremendous need for volunteers. The Miracle of Birth Center and the Surgery Suite highlight our profession to the general public that we could not attain any other way. To be successful they will again rely on MVMA member volunteers with the Miracle of Birth Center especially in need of volunteers. This year something new has been added to the Fair by our profession. The MVMRC is having a display next to the Surgical Suite building. BART and AVMA/VMAT will also be a part of this. I know that we're all busy and time is always precious, but all these efforts are very worthwhile and in need of our support.
The MVM Foundation has two very important fund-raising events in the next couple of months that along with the convention's silent auction are the main sources of their income. The always successful golf tournament is being held at The Refuge Golf Club on August 6th. What a great event, whether you golf or not. I don't, but still go and have always had a wonderful time. I strongly encourage you to come to golf, to volunteer, or to just hang out.
The exciting new event that has been added this year is Sporting Clays. The date of this is September 24th. It will be held at the Horse and Hunt Club in Prior Lake. Guns and ammunition will be available if needed. This is truly a beautiful place and a great opportunity to bring family members, colleagues, and clients to participate in and enjoy this event. I can't wait to see which part of the state will produce the best shooters and have bragging rights for the next year.

What a busy next few months it will be. Hope to see everybody everywhere.
