Why have an Animal Hall of Fame?

To celebrate the enduring link between animals and people, the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association will honor domestic animals who exemplify the strength and value of the human-animal bond.

It is a great opportunity to promote public awareness of the contributions domestic animals give and showcase your extraordinary patient and client! Don't miss this chance to honor a special animal.

The Awards Recognition will:

Honor outstanding contributions that animal companions make to enrich human lives; heighten public awareness of the human-animal bond; allow MVMA members to recognize outstanding patients' accomplishments by submitting nominations. One inductee will be selected per category. Inductees into the Minnesota Animal Hall of Fame will be selected from nominations by the MVMA Board of Directors.

Winners will be recognized during an award ceremony during the MVMA Convention. Animal Hall of Fame winners may have the opportunity to be publicized in newspaper articles, veterinary publications, or on television programs.

Categories

One inductee will be selected for each category:

HERO - Animals who have saved or preserved human life.

COMPANION - Animals who have provided a benefit to their human companions or their community.

PROFESSIONAL - Animals especially trained to assist humans.

Requirements

1.  Each nomination must be submitted by an MVMA member on an Official Application (or photocopy of official form) with the signature of the animal's owner/caretaker. (The Veterinary Sponsor may include up to three additional letters of support and photographs for the animal's membership in the Animal Hall of Fame. The nomination must be made by an MVMA member; however, letters of support may come from other sources.)

2.  Nominees must be domestic animals who, through unselfish and courageous accomplishment, exemplify the affection, loyalty, and value of the human-animal bond.

3.  Animals and their owners must be available to attend the MVMA Convention on Saturday and to participate in public recognition activities.

4.  A one-page description of why the animal should be considered must accompany the Official Application. Ongoing and/or heroic actions may be considered.

5.  An animal may be nominated in one category per year.

NOTE: The description letters are a very important part of the nomination, be descriptive and complete. Thank you.
