An enjoyable, interactive review of wound closure materials including sutures, needles and their intended uses. Discussion on whatvarious suture polymers were designed for and ways to reduce wound complications through proper suture selection. The role of implants in surgical site infection and ways to reduce the risks. Taper versus cutting needles and the proper application of each to reduce trauma and expense. Smart inventory management as a means of contributing to the clinic's bottom line will be discussed along with recommendations for developing a suture formulary to reduce capital expenditures in suture inventory.
