Minnesota Veterinary Technician Certification

Technician certification applications and renewals are no longer being accepted by the MVMA.

Beginning July 1, 2026, technician licensure through the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine is replacing certification through the MVMA.

If you are an MVMA-certified CVT and your status is current/active (valid through June 30, 2026), your VTNE scores and proof of education/diploma have been transferred to the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) on your behalf.

If your certification status is not active/lapsed, your VTNE scores and proof of education have not and will not be transferred. Lapsed CTVs do not have access to their MVMA account.

To learn more and apply for licensure, visit the Technician Licensing page on the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine's website. You can also find helpful resources and history on MVMA’s licensure information page.

For questions related to your MVMA certification, contact MVMA at [email protected] or 651-645-7533.

For questions related to applying for veterinary technician licensure, please contact the MN Board of Vet Med at [email protected] or 651-201-2844.

Transferring to Another State?

To request a verification letter, please email mariaN@mvma.org. Information needed: your name, a phone number you can be reached in case of questions, and the state and address to which you would like the verification sent. This service is no charge for active CVTs and $10 for lapsed CVTs.

For other details about a state's specific credentialing requirements, please contact the credentialing body in that state for more information.

Verify a CVT

Beginning July 1, 2026, MVMA's "Verify a CVT" tool will no longer be accessible. If you need to verify that a technician was a CVT in good standing through June 30, 2026, please reach out the MVMA office at [email protected]
