CE Updates for 2021 Renewals: The MVMA credentialing committee chairs became aware that the Board of Veterinary Medicine had made some changes for the DVM licensure requirements due to COVID and we wanted to honor these changes towards the CVT 2021 requirements, since we had given the 2020 renewals an extension to the regular deadline. Details are: 1) Any non-interactive (on-demand) CE from ANY approved venue will count as interactive towards the 2021 certification renewals for sessions that were viewed  within the following dates: 7/1/2019  – 6/30/2021. This CE allowance will expire 6/30/2021; late renewals must follow the original lapsed submission guidelines.

Before you renew:

1. Review Continuing Education Guidelines and MN Vet Tech Renewal Requirements
2. Assess CE certificate(s) to determine medical vs non - medical and interactive vs non - interactive.
3. ***Please add your name and date on ALL CE certificates.
4. Submit an itemized list of CE courses for state and national conferences (if CE certificate states medical and non - medical).
5. If applicable, fill out Non-Preapproved (In-Hospital) CE form.  *Maximum of 3 in-hospital credits allowed per MVMA guidelines for recertification.

Two Options to Renew:

1. Online Option:

2. Mail Option:

  • 2021 Late Renewal Form
      • Pay $115.00 Late Renewal Fee
      • Complete the 2021 Late CE Report Form and attach copies of your CE Certificates (DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS). Please list courses attended on the form. You must be detailed and complete the form in its entirety. Incomplete forms will not be processed.  Continuing education credits for renewal will be allowed after this date: 7/1/2019.
  • Late Renewal Forms:

The credentialing subcommittee will review individual submissions received and reserve the right to ask for additional documentation and/or deny any CE courses/credits. You will not receive new certification materials until your renewal has been reviewed and accepted by the committee.

**Please review the Continuing Education Guidelines carefully. It is the responsibility of each technician to submit the required credits for renewal **

Please note: The recertification process is NOT part of MAVT's (Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians) member fees.
We encourage all CVT's to become a member of MAVT and join one of their various committees!
