Visit the Minnesota Streetcar Museum including rides on two historic streetcars along scenic Lake Harriet & Bde Maka Ska in the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis. August 3rd, 2021 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Lunch opportunities following.

Attendees:
All MVMA members and their families are invited to this event. The nominal fee is $5 per adult. Children and grandchildren under twelve are invited to attend at no charge. 

Rules:
COVID Vaccination required for adults.
Stay seated and arms inside of windows while the streetcar is moving.
No food or drinks are allowed on the streetcars except water. 

Motorman, Conductors, and Speakers:
Two volunteers from the Minnesota Streetcar Museum will operate each streetcar. Called motormen and conductors, they will be dressed in 1950’s uniforms to operate the historic

streetcars for your enjoyment. They are happy to explain the procedures for operating a trolley, tell historical stories and answer any questions. Aaron Isaacs leads the Minnesota Streetcar Museum’s all volunteer operations. He is a noted expert on transportation issues in the Twin Cities and has many stories to share about the evolution of mass transit in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Bill Arends is a longtime volunteer and storyteller. Linda Ridlehuber will discuss the women “Motorette” operators during World War 2.

Activities:
The Como-Harriet Streetcar Line Depot will be open for this private event at 9:15 a.m.
Meet at the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line Depot to begin your visit.
All rides will begin and end at the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line Depot.
Trolley 1300 and PCC-Streetcar 322 will be operating for one and 1/2 hours.
The track route is one-mile long with a duration of about 30 minutes for each trip.
Each ride will include a 10-minute talk by a volunteer and an opportunity to visit the Museum.
The Como-Harriet Streetcar Depot has historical displays and a gift shop.
The Museum Carbarn has a library and large mechanical areas to hold the streetcars and do ongoing repairs and maintenance. This is a rare opportunity to visit the museums behind the scenes operations including restorations of the

Lunch and a walk:
This event will end at 11:00 a.m. But there are many restaurants within walking distance or a short ride. The closest is Bread and Pickle. Order at the counter with lots of outdoor seating. Finish the day with a walk around Lake Harriet (3 miles).

REGISTER
SUMMARY:
9-9:30 Depot open for gifts, candy and viewing. 
9:30 Start PCC operations
9:30 - 10:00 Ride PCC, talk at north-end, unload at Carbarn.  
10:00 End operations of PCC. 
10:00 - 10:30 Tour of Carbarn
10:30 start operations of 1300 at carbarn. 
10:30 - 10:45 load and ride returning to depot
10:45 - 11:00 Talk by Aaron Isaacs at depot loading area or on 1300. 
11:00 - 11:30 finish ride with return depot. Final Talk at north-end. 
11:30 - noon Depot Gift Shop open for final purchases. 
Noon - 1 p.m. lunch offsite. Not eating at depot or on trolleys.
